Established the CLA to expand ACU’s policy influence - led a 6 member team to produce legislative scorecards.Policy and Legislative Research:• Transformed ACU state legislative ratings from a pilot initiative reviewing 375 bills to a 50 state operation annually producing 3,000 detailed bill analyses and tracking 40,000 bills.• Established ACU as the only organization to produce an annual scorecard covering all 7,400 state legislators.• Developed a research system to rapidly train policy analysts on unique legislative procedures of the 50 states.• Directed creation of the largest conservative policy database: 17,000 issues + 15,500 lawmaker voting profiles. Government Affairs:• Established the CLA as a trusted policy resource by building deep connections with state lawmakers and governor offices. Utilized the scorecards to advance ACU legislative victories.• Founded the annual CPAC state lawmaker reception which now draws lawmakers from over 40 states. • Expanded ACU coordination with corporate partners and allied groups by publishing key vote alerts. • Created ACU state ratings awards - present to 1,800 legislators annually.• Increased congressional member attendance to over 100 at ACU’s annual congressional ratings award event.Communications and Public Affairs:• Developed model language utilized by policy analysts to effectively message complex state policies.• Exponentially increased media coverage of scorecards via an aggressive marketing/press strategy resulting in coverage of ACU ratings by major networks including Fox News, MSNBC and even on an episode of SNL.
