About Fredrik Norén
Dr Norén has a wide background in the marine field. He is the founder of four companies, writer of several scientific papers and reports, describer of a novel marine species (!), innovator of five patents and has a strong devotion of improving the marine environment as well as a prospering coastal society. He started his first company in 1995 based on an invention to battle harmful algal blooms in parallel with the academic studies. His PhD thesis focused on the microscopic plankton of the sea and after the dissertation he founded the consultancy company N-research focusing on marine biology, technology, and environment.In 2009 he founded the company Marine Feed with an idea to improve marine eutrophicated waters using culturing of sea squirts. The first business idea was to produce biogas, the second to produce fish-feed ingredient and the third was to produce a delicious umami broth from the sea squirts when boiling them to fish-feed. The company Marine Taste was founded as a subsidiary from Marine Taste in 2018 and several food products are now on the market. Marine Feed is since 2022 a part of the Norwegian group Pronofa, which ensures a rapid commercial growth and a strong foundation for global sales.
