My role on the Forest is the Water & Wastewater Program Manager & Hazardous Materials Coordinator. I also assist the Facilities Engineer. As a Program Manager, I put together designs, cost estimates, and specifications for projects to maintain and replace infrastructure that supports the Forest staff and public recreation areas.

Perú

I was living in the jungle in the Department of Junín, Perú helping 3 communities to improve their water, sanitation, and hygiene by working with the local and municipal water authorities and health center personnel. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic caused all volunteers worldwide to be evacuated in March 2020. Although, I was able to accomplish quite a bit during my first year. I improved the administration, operation, and maintenance of the water committee members by training them in topics such as: book keeping, utility fees, chlorination monitoring, and routine maintenance of their water systems. I worked with the environmental health technician to monitor the water quality, such as: turbidity, pH, temperature, and conductivity to ensure proper limits for chlorination. I taught proper home hygiene practices to families in my communities with health center personnel. I organized a field trip to visit the local coffee cooperative with 150 secondary school students to learn about their facilities for coffee production and worldwide distribution, but also to learn about gender equality, discrimination, gender roles, and violence against women with the health promoter and I.

As a fiber optic technician, I helped to setup equipment used for NASCAR timing and scoring and race control operations, as well as the camera and audio equipment used to televise the NASCAR events.

Madrid Area, Spain

I assisted an English-speaking Spanish professor to teach English to children at a primary school. I organized activities to enhance the children's learning.

Aspen, Colorado

I assisted general contractors, engineers, architects, electricians, plumbers, and property owners to submit the proper documents to be reviewed to receive a building permit. I learned about international and municipal codes and regulations. I passed the International Code Council Permit Technician Exam and received a certificate.

Water Treatment Plant Aspen, Co

I was a temporary administrative assistant for the City of Aspen's Water Department. Among regular administrative duties, I was able to assist the Environmental Initiatives department to organize the city's greenhouse gas emissions data, review city-specific carbon factors, and create a carbon awareness curriculum for grades K-8.

I have worked NASCAR races and college football, basketball, softball, and volleyball games for ESPN. Camera and video equipment are setup and connected. NASCAR is an enormous event for sports television. More equipment and personnel are needed in order to televise these events. During the race, I assisted the wireless camera crews that interview the drivers during practice, qualifying, and before/after the race. My position during the college games was usually always the same for each event -- I made sure that the hand-held cameraman was able to move smoothly to get his shots. I have also shot camera for the stand-up shots of the announcers in the booth for college football; during the game I shot the wide shot (in the business, known as the ALL-22 camera) to include all players in order for use on the telestrator for the announcers.

Snowmass Village, Co

Upheld Viceroy 5-star policies to treat guests with the utmost respect. Job duties included: boot fitting, ski and snowboard rental setup, storing equipment slopeside, transferring equipment to valet/bellmen or to other Aspen Ski Company rental shops. Apart from being a ski valet, I would assist the guests with anything else they desired including: restaurant recommendations, children getting gloves/hat/helmet/goggles/boots/jackets worn correctly, directions, and trail recommendations.

Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Ga

I joined the I.B.E.W. Local 1200 to be able to work the Atlanta Falcons games for FOX Sports. I was responsible for connecting camera and video equipment during the set-day and ensuring that the equipment was working properly. Our crew worked as a team in order to have everything ready for game-day. Usually during the game, I was on the sidelines with the hand-held cameraman coiling the cable so that the cameraman was able to move smoothly through the crowd to get the interviews and replay shots.

San Luis, Costa Rica

My former colleague, Jonathan Jones, and I performed a carbon neutrality study for the University of Georgia's study abroad campus in San Luis, Costa Rica. The former Costa Rican president stated that Costa Rica will be carbon neutral by 2021. Since that statement was made in 2007, the university began arrangements to start their reforestation project. Four trees are planted for every student that visits the campus. It was our job to estimate the carbon sequestration from the reforestation project and through other initiatives, such as their anaerobic biodigestor, in order to estimate whether or not all carbon emissions produced by the campus were offset. We researched international and national standards to design a carbon footprint calculator specific to the campus. The results were published in the University's Annual Sustainability Report.
