Fred's core strength was Network Engineering and over years had already built an in-depth knowledge of Gevalia & Direct-To-Consumer (DTC). We soon saw him successfully expanding his role to web & legacy applications also. But over and above that, what made Fred the key 'success factor' in many of the large and small projects that Gevalia rolled out in next few years was his amazing 'management' capability. Fred had this remarkable ability to dissect a problem and define a set of crystal clear goals - thinking out of the box, even in scenarios where the particular domain might not be his forte. Being 'people oriented' was natural to Fred and he put that to good use. Fred displayed the unparalleled skill to set a non competitive environment for disparate distributed teams ( 10+ vendors in an initiative was the order of the day in most Gevalia initiatives !) - to collaborate and meet their individual and shared goals. Fred's ability to engage people had no hierarchy limits - he was at equal ease with a Kraft Senior Marketing Director or CIO of a large vendor partner just the same way as he would chat with a North Western intern over lunch about 'DTC'. As the success manager on our first assignment @ Kraft and many that followed, I have no doubt that Fred was instrumental for the great success that Mindtree had at Gevalia. If I set out to thank Fred personally, I would have to cover a range of areas - helping build DTC subject matter expertise by sharing all his know how, by introducing to new & complex project/technical scenarios and enabling to learn & succeed and also allowing to watch and learn from his 'rooted' & genuine management & people skills. There could have been no better mentor in those transformative years. I wish Fred all the best and hope he continues to taste success leveraging his areas of strength & interest."
