The Communications Dept. at Metro North consists of 121 employees including managers, engineers, technicians, and line gang. Responsibilities include design, installation and maintenance of networks including, WAN, LAN, Wireless Communications, CCTV, Telephone Network, Police Vehicles and Radio Base Station Network as well as several 911 Centers and Dispatch Centers(Train), Security and Alarm Systems, Public Address Systems at 121 Train Stations, PA and Radio Systems on board 1500 pcs of rolling stock and over 300 miles of pole line consisting of copper and fiber.Responsibilities included design, budget, implementation, maintenance of electronic systems at Metro-North including 1200 CCTV Cameras, Intercoms, and Intrusion Detection Systems at various stations, yards, and facilities including the national landmark, Grand Central Terminal.Metro North has 384 route miles and 775 miles of track, MetroNorth goes to 121 stations in seven counties in New York State--Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, Bronx, New York (Manhattan), Rockland, and Orange-and two counties in the state of Connecticut--New Haven and Fairfield. Three main lines east of the Hudson River--the Hudson, the Harlem, and the New Haven -- operate from Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Two lines west of the Hudson River--the Port Jervis and the Pascack Valley, operate out of New Jersey Transit's terminal in Hoboken, N.J., and connect with service out of Penn Station, NY via the Secaucus Transfer. The Hudson Line runs 74 miles from Grand Central Terminal to Poughkeepsie; the Harlem, 82 miles to Wassaic; and the New Haven, which also has three branch lines--the New Canaan, Danbury, and Waterbury--72 miles to New Haven. The Port Jervis Line runs 95 miles from Hoboken to Port Jervis, with 30 of those miles in New Jersey; the Pascack Valley Line extends 31 miles from Hoboken to Spring Valley, 25 of those miles being in New Jersey. Total sq. mileage of the service territory is approx. 2,701 miles.

At Ovitron we built and tested the PRC-25 back pack transceivers used in Viet Nam and in the Middle East. My responsibilities there included quality control (both incoming and in process) and repair and calibration of test equipment that was traceable back to the National Bureau of Standards.

Assist in the design and production of inductors used through out the industry by companies including Raytheon, Collins, Narco, RCA, and NASA.
