Work included recommendations for site preparation, revegetation objectives, seed mixtures, fertilizer amendments and the monitoring program (soil and vegetation).•Completed a tailings revegetation review for three mine sites in B.C. The review included summarizing historical revegetation work, evaluation of species establishment on the tailings, identification of nutrient deficiencies or toxicity symptoms in the plants and recommendations for future revegetation programs. •At an open pit operation, evaluated the revegetation potential of three types of material: overburden removed from the pit, acid rock drainage contaminated material and ARD treatment sludge deposited into cells. •Completed a soil and vegetation assessment at two farms to determine factors affecting biomass production in fields adjacent to a large metallurgical site. •Participated in projects to evaluate the feasibility of establishing submerged aquatic plants on flooded mine tailings. •Conducted field research program to evaluate the subaqueous disposal of oxidized waste rock in acidic, basic and neutral lake environments. •Supervised piezometer installation and collected geotechnical samples as part of tailings monitoring programs. Completed groundwater monitoring programs at seven mine sites. •Performed growth studies to assess the potential for establishing vegetation on sulphide tailings.
