I have had a varied career with periods of my working life in academic medicine, specialty retail/ small business development, education at the college and high school level and real estate investing. Someone asked me how long I'd been in real estate and I realized it's been the long-term element in my working life. My grandfather was a residential developer and landlord in Minnesota from the 1890s to the 1960s. I worked on my first rehab in 1976 and sold my first flip in 1989. I love to look at real estate and have had roles of commercial (and residential) tenant, builder/contractor, landlord, lender and now, note investor. I have seen that the money side of real estate often prospers even if the tenants, landlords and owners are caught in a down market. We purchase and sell both performing and non-performing notes as well as more traditional real estate investment in multi-unit and single family investment properties. Wouldn't you rather have a mortgage payment coming in than one going out?
