Health Care Assistant - Ward 17, Trauma And Orthopedics
CurrentWard 17 was a busy trauma and orthopaedic 28-bedded ward, a Neck of Femur centre of excellence, mostly patients with fractured hips or knees. My responsibilities included essential patient care, general ward maintenance & cleaning and completing related paperwork. Assisting with patient mobility and continuing physiotherapy, as prescribed by a registered physiotherapist. Other responsibilities involved measuring the vital signs of patients and recording them appropriately, escalating all nursing concerns to the appropriate member of staff. Patient transfers to other wards, the imaging department and theatre. Communicating with staff, patients and relatives, in person and on the phone. While escalating concerns outside my role to the relevant member of staff.Key points:▶ I worked throughout the entire covid-19 epidemic without illness, both on my ward and other cohort wards.
