Awareness of Elder Mediation is growing - opportunities are increasing. at #ConcordConflictSolutions, to share the potential of this sector. At Calm Mediation we’ve had a change of Chief Executive, with exciting plans for reaching further to prevent & resolve conflict - I’m now Director of Development, a role which offers great potential to support the expansion and further improvement of our services. 2022 was a big year, culminating in my qualification as Elder Mediator, Certified at Advanced Level (Cert.EM Adv) December 2022 after over two years working towards that goal - the FIRST person in Great Britain to attain that level - certified by the #ElderMediationInternationalNetwork (EMIN). After years as a solicitor in clinical negligence, injury, consumer and workplace legal sectors and a decade in Australia, my practice is now entirely focussed on mediation. The speed and flexibility of the process, coupled with the key element of clients creating and taking ownership of their agreement, makes for an unbeatable outcome in most cases. I am privileged to work with a talented and fun business partner at #ConcordConflictSolutions, our mediation practice. In addition I enjoy working with a highly regarded mediation charity, #CalmMediation, supporting their growth to enable access to mediation by all members of our communities. One of the best bits of my job is when we check in with clients months after a mediation and hear the upbeat note in their voice, as they tell you how their relationships have improved, with colleagues, with family or with service providers. Coming from a starting point, for many clients, where they cannot be in the same room or they avoid each other, that's a remarkable shift.
