Academic research: I carried out the web-based search, and the selection, summarizing, and compiling into a comprehensive database of news media, think tank and government reports as well as academic literature on the Indo-Pacific idea in general, and on specific issue areas such as maritime security cooperation or development aid. It also encompassed the activities and perceptions of the roles that Australia, India, Japan and the United States play in that meta-region, and how developments in trans-Pacific relations affect trans-Atlantic ties. Furthermore, I participated in and summarized the proceedings of webinars and online events on the topic. The work was mainly done in English but included material in French, Italian and Spanish.
