I am a pastor by calling with a civic and prophetic mindedness that has committed me to serve in many public and institutional settings. The Barnes family makes their home in Goldsboro, NC. My passion in life is to work with individuals and organizations to address systemic needs that adversely impact people’s lives by building on human and organizational capacity. My educational preparation of a Doctorate of Ministry degree in Social Ethics has enabled me to effectively lead pastoral ministries and community activities for more than twenty years. I founded and pastored churches, and religious and community organizations in Virginia and North Carolina. Additionally, I have held significant leadership positions in religious and civic organizations due to my proven credentials and experience as an effective preacher, teacher, strategic planner, and community organizer. My additional expertise in conflict mediation and leadership development have allowed me the opportunity to increase my value to the organizations I have served. I have successfully worked with marginalized communities to build economic capacity. As a reserve chaplain in the Navy, I served with Marines in Iraq which enhanced my skills of resolving complex crisis situations. Personal interests include traveling, hiking, and reading.
