Deputy Sheriff
• Conduct investigations within Brevard County.• Verified identification, citizenship, and immigration status of detainee during the booking process.• Properly assess a scene for appropriate actions and act accordingly to maintain control.• Professional interaction with the public with the intent of keeping the peace.• Monitor the behavior of subjects to detect criminal activity and maintain care custody.• Query names of detainees through law enforcement restricted applications such as NCIC and FCIC.• Interviews with subjects to determine if a crime was committed and to build a case. Interviewing witnesses one on one.• Pat down inspections for contraband such as narcotics, weapons, and explosives.• Observes work area and activities; reports/responds to any unusual or abnormal inmate behaviors or physical conditions.• Maintains security and accountability for tools, equipment, and facility keys.2• Accurately records and documents all required information pertaining to logs including but not limited to housing, 15-minute watch, single cell restriction, restraint, and confinement logs.• Conducts a variety of searches/inspections of individuals, materials and facilities for contraband, evidence, escape attempts, unauthorized articles, weapons, evidence of unauthorized activities, and rule infractions.• Provides direct supervision and documentation of inmates and their movement within the housing areas of the facility, secure perimeter or while transporting including verifying accurate identification and counts.• Controls, subdues, and restrains inmates using proper restraining hold or device without causing undue pain or injury.• Responds to an escape or attempted escape by sealing off potential escape routes and uses the minimum amount of force required to stop the escapee(s) while maintaining control and custody of other inmates.
