I advised both exploration and business development teams in identifying, evaluate and mature exploration and production opportunities in Colombia and abroad that could be included in the company´s portfolio through M&A, bid-rounds or farm-in processes. I assisted technical teams in the evaluation of new exploration, development and new business opportunities that were presented to the company by third parties or identified by other company peers, and the integration with a multidisciplinary team to complete economic evaluations and recommendations to be presented to the management team. I recommended the acquisition of multiple production assets that were a great fit to the company´s portfolio

I founded this private startup E&P company focused in Latin America to identify, evaluate and promote low risk onshore exploration and production properties in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. I built a large geological and geophysical dataset that was used to identify attractive exploration and development opportunities with significant exploration upside that were presented to multiple E&P companies in the region and other potential investors.

I planned and directed the company’s exploration and development activities employing the latest techniques and tools, ensure that the exploration and production goals and contractual obligations were achieved on time and within budget, identified and matured exploration opportunities within the existing portfolio and evaluated new business opportunities, ensured to gain approval of exploration work programs and budgets from the government authorities and partners of joint ventures through TCM/OCM, prepared and overseen operational budgets and feasibility of the exploration portfolio projects, managed a technical team involved in identifying and assessing the location, quantity and quality of oil and gas exploration prospects, managed and overseen geological and geophysical operations, assessing portfolio risk, prepared technical reports for use by technical and management personnel. During my tenure Amerisur increased production from 5,000 to 6,500 bopd, increased proven reserves and consolidated a highly prospective exploration portfolio. I actively participated during the successful MMUS$ 314 sale of the company.

I planned and executed annual exploration budgets and work programs on operated licenses including well and seismic operations and technical studies, supervising and mentoring a group of talented geoscientist in order to develop and execute a portfolio of growth opportunities, manage and maintain a well-organized lead and prospect portfolio as the basis for planning future work programs, planning and supervision of well operations, evaluation plans, final well reports and completion, maintaining and developing positive and effective working relationships with partners, communicating effectively with corporate management to progress growth opportunities, and ensure compliance with National Agencies and Government rules and regulations. I successfully negotiated contractual extensions and obligations with regulators at low cost to the company, and collaborated with social and environmental teams to obtain required permits for seismic and drilling operations. During my tenure Vetra increased production from 3,000 to 6,000 bopd and successfully divested assets for more than MMUS$ 100.

Academic research collaboration with Harvard University on seismic interpretation and structural modeling of deep-water fold belts including the Niger Delta and the Southern Caribbean basin offshore northern Colombia

I was responsible to oversee a full cycle of exploration in Latin America for this Houston based privately funded junior E&P company, from office setup and team recruitment, to exploration studies directed to the identification and evaluation of new conventional and unconventional bid-round and farm-in opportunities. Built key relationships with key national oil companies and institutions, conducted risk, economic and technical analysis for selected countries, basins and assets, including Colombia, Peru, and Brazil among others

Provided technical expertise in structural geology applied to seismic interpretation and modeling, fault seal capacity analysis and reservoir compartmentalization to Shell E&P Co's production assets teams in the Gulf of Mexico

I conducted regional seismic and wells logs interpretation and surface geologic mapping and structural modeling as part of Oxy’s regional exploration efforts in Colombian basins. This resulted in the identification and successfully exploration of the Gibraltar discovery in the eastern foothills of the Eastern Cordillera Fold belt, now operated by Ecopetrol S.A.
