My focus is on all aspects of EU competition law, in particular, behavioural investigations (cartels and abuse of dominance), merger clearances and State Aid. I have extensive litigation experience, having represented clients in more than 50 proceedings before the European courts in Luxembourg. I have also appeared before Dutch, French and Belgian courts, as well as competition authorities in these three countries.Over close to 28 years following the EU in Brussels, I have also regularly advised on many other aspects of EU regulatory law. In recent years, data protection, long a hobby of mine, has provided me with increasing opportunities to help clients navigate the complexities of the GDPR.Although my day job is providing practical advice to companies, I still retain a keen interest for legal theory in all aspect of the European integration project. Since 1993, I have been secretary, then general secretary of Les cahiers de droit européen, a leading academic European Law journal.Raised in a bilingual family with a Spanish mother and Belgian father, I am fluent in French, English, Dutch and Spanish. I also can read Italian, Portuguese and German.
