About Frederic Yarm
Fred Yarm is a Boston-based bartender and writer. Fred started his interest in cocktails and spirits in 2006 as a home enthusiast by writing about his experiences online. This prompted him to team up with some friends to start the CocktailVirgin blog, and soon he became the sole author on that site. In 2012, Fred’s day job in biotech went away, and he wrote his first book Drink & Tell: A Boston Cocktail Book with all of the recipes that he had amassed from across town. This book led to a number of speaking engagements and finally a guest shift behind the bar; after that single night bartending, he decided to drop his science career and focus on hospitality. Fred has been a bartender in various establishments in Boston including Loyal Nine and Russell House Tavern since 2013 and is currently at Drink in Boston as the general manager, and he still keeps up on the blog. His second book, Boston Cocktails: Drunk & Told was published in 2017.
