Profile bio

About Frederica Helmiere, Mesc, Mar

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to experiences of transformation. As a child I found this in the sacraments and rituals of institutionalized religion. As a young adult it was the transformative potential of global travel, foreign languages and cultural immersion. Entering adulthood, I worked for structural transformation through conscientious activism, non-violent civil disobedience, and grassroots interfaith peace-building. And along every step of the way I have been under the spell of wild places and nature as sites of deep personal growth, challenge and revelation. Now I am an explorer of more mystical and esoteric paths, healing modalities, and consciousness states as relevant contemporary tools for personal and organizational transformation. This passion for transformation has fueled so much for me. It's why I studied religion & environmental science at Dartmouth and Yale. It motivated me to join the Peace Corps, and later become a naturalist guide and backcountry recreationist. It steered me towards academia where, for five years, my classroom was a site of shifting worldviews, discourse dismantling, and experiential learning for the 500 undergrad and graduate students I taught. And it guided me into the (re)emerging field of psychedelics, directing a Psychedelic Practitioner Training program as part of the integration of plant medicine into the fabric of modern culture.Today this passion has brought me into leadership roles designing and building professional development programs in non-profits and startups. I currently work alongside other pioneers in the human potential movement at the Esalen Institute, experimentally, subversively and creatively dancing at the intersections of science and religion, east and west, mind and body, ancient and modern. I graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a BA in Environmental Studies and Religion, summa cum laude from Yale Divinity School with a Masters of Arts in Religion – Ethics, and from Yale School of the Environment with a Masters of Environmental Studies. Most recently I completed a 4-month advanced leadership exploration of power and systems healing from Wayfinding.

Listed skills include Public Speaking, International Development, Community Outreach, Research, and 47 others.
