Senior Reptile Keeper
Responsible for daily care and maintenance of large collection of reptiles, especially venomous snakes and crocodilians. Primary responsibility - the Giant Reptiles complex, including reticulated pythons over 20 ft. in length, African rock pythons, green and yellow anacondas, Burmese and Ceylonese pythons, varanids and giant tortoises. Worked extensively with crocodilians plus elapid, viperid and colubrid snakes and large monitor lizards (Varanidae), including Varanus salvadorii. Also hand-painted decorative backgrounds in many of the reptile exhibits.

Developed and presented educational on-site programs about reptiles and amphibians for schools, libraries, museums, veterans, boy scouts, EMS and law enforcement personnel and other groups and organizations. Programs all featured live snake demonstrations with venomous species from the region, as well as various native snakes and large constrictors. Appeared regularly on local radio station answering callers' questions about snakes on the air. Maintained collection of exotic venomous reptiles used in mobile display, including gaboon and rhinoceros vipers. Responsible for booking and scheduling artists, publicity, coordination of volunteer staff, arranging performer hospitality and sponsors, fundraising, improvements to the physical space and infrastructure, live sound and recording.Emcee and host of the weekly live-broadcast program on WTJU-FM (see below), the "Prism Radio Coffeehouse" every Saturday night from May 1992- Sept. 2004.
Production Manager And Director Of Folk Programs
In association with the Prism coffeehouse, devised and installed stereo broadcast loop donated by Sprint for conducting live broadcast performances from the Prism on a weekly basis from 1992-2004. Responsible for conducting and recording live interviews, including on-site interviews for University of Virginia and other local figures for National Public Radio (Rita Dove, Larry Sabato, among others), live in-studio performances by musicians, including Dave Matthews, recording of station announcements and promos, coordination and scheduling of 18 hours of folk and traditional music programs each week, including hosting programs and the Prism live broadcasts. Devising and implementing new and original programs, some of which are still in the station schedule.
