I am engaged in Criminal Defense and have been for 41 years. I am also available as a consultant or as a source for that "Second Opinion" when it is helpful to the client. I also have considerable experience with forensic experts and can make recommendations and provide advice regarding their use in court.It is not that rare to be a smart attorney. It is not that rare to be hard working. What is rare is good judgment and the willingness to speak the truth to your client even when that truth is hard to accept. Serious criminal charges are not going to go away by magic . It is not enough to be smart and hardworking. What is needed is good judgment when dealing with your client, prosecutors, judges or a jury. During a jury trial dozens of decisions have to be made every day. Experience helps in making those decisions but experience is nothing without good judgment. Criminal law, at its essence, is the art of persuasion. Knowledge of the law is essential but not enough. What is required is the good judgment to understand the effect of what and how you say something is having upon the prosecutor, the judge or the jury.
