The key performance indicators for the position were as follows:- Management of the valuation of all the plantations within Sappi Southern Africa- Investigates, implements and maintains accounting principles, policies, procedures and reporting- Member of the Sappi Accounting Standards Committee- Reviewing cost allocations- Ensure Group & Divisional LOA’s are adhered to.- Investigates, implements and maintains operational procedures- Effective control of cost issues- Budget vs Actual Analysis- Investigate cost containment solutions- Manage Financial Department teams and responsible for staff performance, development and training- Ensure compliance with IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley and internal controls- Responsible for accurate financial reporting- Evaluates financial risk and advises of exceptions in performance, problems and anomalies.- Budget and Forecast preparation in line with economic parameters and guidelines- Monthly Operational Segment reporting- Building Manager- Evaluates financial risk and advises of exceptions in performance, problems and anomalies.

The Financial manager Position was responsible for the financial management for the entire Forestry Value chain from the stump to the mill. This included costing, budgeting and forecasting . The position was also responsible for the valuation of the of the biological assets of the Company.Further responsibilities included the following items:- Management of the Finance Department teams and be responsible for staff performance, development and training.- Ensure compliance with IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley and Internal controls.- Review of accounting treatment of transactions to ensure that they are in line with the IFRS. Ensure that internal controls are in place and are working in an effective manner. Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.- Review current accounting treatment of transactions and ensure that they are in line with the accounting policies of the company.- Ensure costs incurred are in line with the budgeted amounts within the Finance Department and the Division as a whole.
