Provide technical expertise and advocacy regarding the characterization of transgenic insecticidal proteins in genetically modified crops using insect bioassay and bioanalytical methods. Support the complex areas of stacked trait registration and licensing needs for global and regional safety assessment and registration activities. Plan, design and execute insect bioassays to characterize and assess biological activity of transgenic proteins derived from microbial sources and genetically modified crops. Improve the quality and consistency of the GLP bioassays conducted in support of regulatory submissions and provide solutions to technical problems associated with the performance of insect bioassays employing transgenic proteins. Ensure technical procedures are in alignment with regulatory expectations and meet international standards where applicable. Serve as GLP Study Director or Study Monitor accountable for timely delivery of studies conducted as part of comprehensive regulatory data packages. Develop novel bioassay approaches to address specific needs of higher order insecticidal stacked events and interact with global colleagues to generate creative strategies for study program delivery in support of protein characterization and safety assessments. Understand the regulatory landscape and region-specific needs and work in cross-cultural and cross-functional teams. Analyze data, prepare technical positions, and present and advocate those positions both within and outside Syngenta. Represent Syngenta through participation in professional organizations and industry task forces, and pursue influential publication of the science which will have a positive impact regarding insecticidal trait protein usage.

Oversee and coordinate insect bioassay work for key corn and cotton projects. Provide leadership for troubleshooting and assay method development. Align resource needs with prioritization requests set by management. Analyze and present data in support of project needs and management review. Lead and conduct in vitro and in vivo assays for mode of action work. Assist with insect assays as needed. Support Regulatory Affairs for mode of action studies during dossier preparation and responses to regulatory agencies.
