Now retired, I spent my working career in the development and manufacture of electrical and electronic wiring components for multinational OEM's. My technical experience is in plastic product design and the development, selection and specification of polymer materials and additives, product prototyping, design performance validation and failure analysis, the design of injection mold tooling for single and multi-component injection processes, the development of fully streamlined extrusion profile dies and downstream calibration systems, as well as the design of thermoset compression molds for sheet molding compound. Production assistance encompassed the initial start up of new manufacturing cells as well as the training of manufacturing personnel for "start-up" operations, further process automation and equipment optimization. Project responsibilities have ranged from customer interface, worldwide technical support of our marketing groups, through product development and implementation, utilizing both internal and external manufacturing vendors. Managerial exposure as Chief Engineer included drafters, designers, engineers and laboratory personnel. After retiring I became an Advisory Board Member of the College of Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I also am a judge in the annual Gwinnett Science Fair for High School and Middle School students. I now spend my retirement touring Europe with my wife each year as well as building & restoring furniture in my woodworking shop, or working on my own Porsche and BMW motorcycles... I also design and fabricate a variety of ferrous and non ferrous components in my home machine shop to support my various hobby interests...
