Expanding on the success of my previous role within the company, the Data Science team was initiated to provide Data services to the global organization both for supporting product efforts as well as operational excellence. Using a combination of analytics, machine learning and deep learning the department provided value at critical junctions across the entire product life-cycle.

The Data and Process Innovation department is a new department that supports a variety of functions at SHL. By using data science, we are promoting increased data visibility and velocity within the organization. We have pioneered using several technologies within SHL including deep learning, machine learning and advanced analytics to both measure and improve processes.• Led development of deep learning image classifier for improvement of assembly processes. Utilizing Tensorflow to develop CNN’s and deploying onto a LabView production environment.• Implementing data-driven decision making in process development and process improvement activities.• Partnering with large pharmaceutical clients to implement production and performance models to assist in improving both supply and design challenges as well as cross-company data sharing initiative.• Developed models for predictive analytics of device performance using Support Vector Machines, XGBoost, and similar machine learning tools.• Used common dimensionality reduction tools (SVM, Random Forest, XGBoost, Principal Component Analysis) to help identify critical components and areas of manufacturing and design.

• Lead Technical/Systems Engineer for the development of FDA Class I and Class II medical devices, developed using a company first Agile methodology while still maintaining ISO 13485 medical device standards.• Oversee development of first digital health initiatives bringing the companies first cellular connected product through feasibility and into commercialization phase.• Drove company first machine learning project that saw increases in classification accuracy for digital health product in development to over 99%.• Decreased development time and improved team communication by utilizing Agile methodology.• Collaborate with corporate venture capital group providing industry and technical due diligence as well as technical and business development support for venture partners.

• Founded company with focus on industrialization of nanotechnology characterization.• Developed high-speed inspection systems capable of analyzing thin films in an industrial setting with little or no training required on the user level.• Developed real world mimicking standards for calibrations, including glass flake delamination standards.• Provided nano-scale characterization services including SEM, EDS, Raman Spectroscopy and Ellipsometry.

• Started and grew lab division performing large and small scale studies of medical devices for pharmaceutical companies, specializing in Root Cause Analysis.• Oversaw research activities including grant writing and patent filing, with several technologies becoming commercialized products.• Developed novel technologies including cross-linked tribological films and self-lubricating plunger technologies.

• Developed, fabricated and tested first magnonic holographic devices.• Developed and fabricated novel micro-positioning tool for use in biological applications.• Over saw development and processing of multiferroic thin films for use in straintronic applications.• Worked with high-level, cross-functional and international team to both design and implement new devices as well as characterize and explore their potential.

Assisted students with hand-on electrical engineering skills including circuit board design and analysis and use of general electronic lab equipment.

Used hands-on tools to instruct students on Nanotechnology, as a Department of Energy outreach program• Instructed multiple course modules in Nanotechnology to an audience with a wide variety of backgrounds.• Managed the clean room facility as well as all of the equipment located within the facility.

Acted as the primary coordinator of the entire firms IT system as well as integrated in new state-of-the-art IT systems, while maintaining and upgrading legacy systems.

Characterized and produced high-k dielectric systems and their studied their applications as thin films.• Developed high-k thin films using a variety of techniques.• Worked on modeling electromagnetic systems using Maxwell modeling software.• Characterized films using a variety of techniques with a special focus on optical characterization via spectroscopic ellipsometry and Raman spectroscopy.

My research focused on nanoneuromorphic circuit designs utilizing Field-Configurable Transistors with Dr. Yong Chen's group.• Modeled nano-neuromorphic component designed circuits for neuromorphic circuitry applications.• Worked on novel testing method to assist in characterizing neuromorphic components.

Machine Learning as applied to Voice Recognition and Wake-Up Word Technologies.• Applied machine learning techniques to voice-recognition tasks.• Worked toward the use of pitch detection to assist in voice-recognitions tasks.
