Within the medical sales team, I managed some of Sensirion’s largest clients and interacted with them on all levels, from technical deep dive to price and contract negotiations. I also identified new business opportunities and drove market-pull innovations with our R&D teams.

In the Microsystems Laboratory, I designed sensors and control systems to poke C. elegans nematodes to understand their sense of touch. During that time, I collaborated closely with molecular biologists and mentored PhD students. In addition, I also managed our cleanroom (training, inventory, admin, etc.) and taught Master-level classes on MEMS and atomic force microscopy.

During my PhD, and together with researchers from four other laboratories and research institutes, we developed a non-invasive cancer screening tool. In a clinical trial, it differentiated the breaths of patients diagnosed with lung cancer from those of healthy subjects. I was responsible for the chemical sensor at the heart of the system and presented our results at highly technical conferences and in mainstream media.
