Frederik is interim professor of cognitive an social psychology in the Department of Applied Psychology, Faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing, Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences (RWU), Germany; he also is an adjunct research fellow in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Alfred Hospital, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia; and an affiliate researcher in the Australian Centre for Electromagnetic Bioeffects Research (ACEBR), a National Health and Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence (NHMRC CRE), based at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI), University of Wollongong (UoW), Australia.His primary research interests are in the fields of risk perception and risk communication of environmental agents as well as topics of consumer health protection.Freudenstein studied Psychology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and finished his diploma in 2012, with a focus on risk and environmental psychology. In 2016 he completed his Ph.D. at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, investigating lay people's risk and exposure perception of radio frequency electromagnetic fields. From 2016-2019 he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the School of Psychology, Faculty of Social Science at UoW, developing target-group-specific risk communication strategies.Fred has worked for various scientific intuitions and projects, for instance, the Science Forum Electromagnetic Fields (WF-EMF), Berlin, Germany; the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at KIT, a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (HGF); as a key person for the European FP7 project Low EMF Exposure Future Networks (LEXNET); the Centre for Population Health Research on Electromagnetic Energy (PRESEE) at Monash University; as a senior scientific officer in the Department of Risk Communication at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), reporting to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), Berlin, Germany; or as principal investigator in the international German Research Foundation (DFG) project Deciphering the Pandemic Public Sphere (DECIPHER).
