In charge of Air Export department (network movements, commercial movements and customer service). Main task is to offer our customers the best solution for their supply chain, depending on their requirements.Optimizing the department - making sure we perform well on KPI's set by UPS Corporate - negotiation of rates with suppliers (mainly airlines) - controlling timely invoicing etc...

Next to the specific pharmaceutical customer that I managed in my earlier position at Emery Worldwide, I was in charge of a small team (3 export agents) that handled all cargo that moved on the Browntail network (UPS's own network).The network was mainly used for all Express Freight shipments into North America, all shipments from automotive suppliers and all Intra-European shipments (both standard and express) for non-automotive suppliers. Key task was to make sure all freight was picked up and booked in time (space requests) for the overnight flights into NA and EU. Communication with customers, dispatch and the UPS Hub in Cologne was essential for providing our customers the service they paid for.

I acted as key customer contact for a special project - 1 specific pharmaceutical customer, based in the USA. For this customer, Emery Worldwide provided a 3PL solution. All products for the European Market (mainly hospitals and universities) were imported in bulk into Belgium and then temporarily stored in our customs bonded warehouse. One by one these products had to be shipped to customers throughout Europe. We handled 3 types of products: general cargo products (medical instruments and spare parts), cold chain products (arrays - keep cool between +2 and +8 °C) and frozen products (reagents - keep frozen at -40 °C - by means of dry ice). Due to the nature of the products, transit time was essential.As I had to manage inventory control, customs formalities, outbound order distribution via courier services or freight services, cycle counts, order follow-up, fiscal representation, customer service etc... I couldn't have wished a better position to start my career!
