After obtaining a PhD in 2011 and a post-doc in the group of Dirk Inzé, focussing on setting up RNA-seq, I became Project Leader of the Applied Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (ABB) group at the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology in 2013. In 2015 I became IT manager at the same Center. The mission of ABB was to enable scientists to perform bioinformatics and biostatistical analyses. Combined with my role as IT manager, I ensured our IT infrastructure is optimised to facilitate data analysis for our scientists to address their research questions. In 2023 I was appointed as Head of the new VIB Data Core. The mission of Data Core is to support researchers in VIB with research data infrastructure : from hardware to software and applications.I'm also Head of Node of ELIXIR Belgium. ELIXIR unites Europe’s leading life science organisations in managing and safeguarding the increasing volume of data being generated by publicly funded research. It coordinates, integrates and sustains bioinformatics resources across its member states and enables users in academia and industry to access services that are vital for their research.
