Human connection has defined every chapter of my forty-year career in financial services, from my beginnings at Goldman Sachs to becoming a pre-IPO partner at the firm. Today, as an author, speaker, and consultant, I help salespeople and development officers connect to clients with authenticity and humanity in a digital world.Emotional intelligence is core to my work: empathy, a willingness to listen, a passion for life and learning about others. It was these skills that led to the most significant transaction of my career with the Bishop Estate, which led to a $500 million investment in the firm.My background includes advising and serving on the boards of the UCSB Foundation, the Buck Institute, Aravo Solutions, and Thorne/DNP. I also give workshops and keynotes at institutions, such as Share Our Strength, Denver University, University of California at Santa Barbara, Cal Poly State University, and the Commonwealth Club. And outside of my work in sales and finance, I had the great adventure of owning and operating a 5,000-acre cutting horse ranch in Santa Barbara County, where I worked to create a sustainable carbon-absorbing grassland property, meeting the highest environmental standards.However, there is no better indication of my abilities than the success I have had in raising my five children. It is this humanity—this life well lived and well learned—that forms the basis of my work now. I am living the most passionate chapter of my life and look forward to sharing it with you and your organization.
