For over 40 years, Fred has been in the plumbing, heating & air conditioning industry. Beginning at 6yrs of age he worked summers at his grandfather’s shop (picture of him shown above). Since you can’t leave a 6-year-old home alone, he spent time organizing bins, pieces of pipe and fittings left all over the shop. In high school he was dropped off at boiler projects to remove old cast iron boilers and haul them to the curb. At the end of the day his uncles would help load the debris for disposal. After picking up the skills of welding, cutting and fitting pipe, Fred began to help install boiler and furnace systems. He attended a tech college for commercial and residential heating and air conditioning service, repair and maintenance. For the next 10 years he earned a living as a service technician and then moved into residential estimating & design for the following 5 years. After that he worked for 7 years as a commercial service & replacement contract engineer. Fred started his own business in 1999, Onsite Mechanical, and in December 2008 bought his former employer Abel B & C Inc. ABEL Heating and Cooling was formed … and the rest is history.
