Sift Science fights fraud with machine learning.

I founded a product within the Commerce team to provide Analytics & Insights for SMBs using the Google Wallet platform. Our vision was to help merchants better understand their customers’ buying habits and ultimately to tie together online Ad spend with Sales. I hired and led a team of Engineers to help build the product.Earlier, I helped build the In-App Payment flow that powered the Google Wallet experience for Android and Web properties. This entailed rebuilding (and rebranding) the entire Google Checkout experience.

Jambool (Social Gold) was a growing business providing In-App payments and a virtual currency platform for games. I lead the effort to scale the product and business internationally by supporting dozens of additional currencies in dozens of countries and to provide support for increasing more complex payment instruments beyond Credit cards including: Pay-by-cash, Pay-by-phone and Debit cards. Our goal was to create the most frictionless and convenient means of paying In-App possible. These efforts grew revenue by more than 25% and increased the reach of the product from a few countries to over 20.Jambool was acquired by Google.com

Founded in June 2007, TeachStreet was dedicated to helping students find great local teachers, and empowering teachers with robust online tools to manage their teaching businesses.I was responsible for TeachStreet's technology and actively supported product definition, fund raising, and strategic development. I helped build the team by hiring and directing engineers; I was responsible for the all-around site architecture and operations. I took a hands-on approach to programming and built many components of the product. The first version of TeachStreet launched in April 2008 and grew monthly traffic rapidly by approximately 20% MOM. In June 2009, the site served over 400K page views for 100K visitors. TeachStreet had comprehensive class coverage in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Denver, NYC, Chicago and Philadelphia.While at TeachStreet I was nominated for the Best Technologist, Seattle 2.0 Awards and TeachStreet was listed as one of the Top Ten Real World Applications of 2008 by Read/WriteWeb.TeachStreet was acquired by Amazon.com.

I was recruited from Amazon to join Zillow as the 9th Engineer when the company was just a few dozen employees. During my time, Zillow scaled to hundreds of employees and many dozen Engineers.I led a team of of Product Managers, DBAs and Software Engineers tasked with increasing traffic and engagement. I was a member of the Architecture Review Board that oversaw technical & product design to ensure high-quality, manageable infrastructure that would scale with our traffic, business and teams — Zillow's systems handled tens of thousands of requests per second and tens of millions of unique visitors per month. Also worked with the Business team to close a deal so that Zillow could power Yahoo’s Real Estate portal.Zillow IPO'd in 2011.

Part of an information management team that was responsible for representing, analyzing and managing product metadata. I was involved in building services and applications for knowledge representation, ontology management and data mining in an effort to create information authority and submission guidance for third-party merchants selling products on the Amazon.com website.Earlier, I worked on a systems engineering team that built the platform and applications used to serve and present real-time product information on the Amazon.com website. These systems replaced earlier batch-oriented content presentation systems. The improvement in the system data quality fostered a dramatic growth in our third-party marketplace so that it represented more than 25% of gross revenues at Amazon.com.
