Dr. Vrins got the MSc degree in electromechanical engineering (mecatronics) from the Ecole Polytechnique de Louvain (EPL, UCLouvain) and a PhD in applied sciences within the machine learning group of the same university. He then moved toward quantitative finance, first in the trading room of a major European bank, then back in UCLouvain. He published in top-tier journals in both machine learning and finance areas (e.g., IEEE Trans. Signal Processing, IEEE Trans. Information Theory, Mathematical Finance, European Journal of Operational Research, Operations Research, ...). He is now professor at the Louvain School of Management (LSM), affiliated professor at HEC Montréal and Professeur Vacataire at EM Lyon Business School. He is leading Louvain Finance (LFIN), one of the four research centers of the Louvain Institute for Data Analysis and Modeling (LIDAM).F. Vrins also provides consulting serivces in the field of quantitative finance (with focus on valuation hedging and and risk management of derivatives and structured products) as well as in stochastic modeling, in general.
