I provide clinical supervision and management for a 7-provider family practice. I am involved in the hiring of clinical staff. I train new employees on their clinical skills as well as their computer skills on our electronic medical records. I help to support the providers using my experience and nursing skills to help with complicated clinical patient scenarios. Trained by Johns Hopkins to implement an embedded Coumadin Clinic in their Laurel, MD family practice office. I managed 25 to 30 patients by teaching and counseling on anticoagulation therapy. I consulted with providers and specialist for Lovenox bridging and coordinated patients transitions of care during procedures. I was also the triage nurse for 5 providers, helping them manage difficult clinical scenarios.

I started my nursing career as a nurse on a busy, 27-bed telemetry unit in 2000. At the bedside, I managed patients by providing head to toe assessments, patient teaching, counseling, and reporting issues to physicians. As a preceptor, I mentored new nurses, supported travel nurses, and help to train them on clinical skills. I quickly became a charge nurse, managing the night shifts that I worked. I anticipated the needs of the patients as well as the staff to be sure that the assignments were fair to the nurses and provided safety for patients.
