About Emma Freedman

A (BA Hons) Early Childhood Studies graduate (2:1) from Birmingham City University. I have completed my Primary PGCE at the University of Hertfordshire and I have obtained my QTS. I completed two placements as part of my PGCE at local primary schools. My first placement was in a Year 5 class giving me experience of upper KS2. My second longer placement was with a Year 1 class at a three form entry school which I really enjoyed.Throughout my time at undergrad University I worked as bank Nursery Assistants at multiple Day Nurseries and as a Nursery Nurse on a children’s ward at a local hospital, both highlighting my teamwork and confidence skills in the work place. I have previously worked as a support worker at an assisted living home for adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems and autism, this illustrated my patience and my caring nature.I also worked as an SEN teaching assistant at a local special needs school with age groups ranging from 7-16 years, showing my organisation and flexibility as well as resilience working with children who display challenging behaviours.Most recently I taught as an ECT at two local primary schools in Year 2 and Year 1 for nearly two years.Here I built strong relationships with colleagues and the children. I worked within a large staff team in my last school building upon my communication and team working skills. My organisational skills were enhanced through working in the year group team through shared planning building on my key organisation skills.
