I am Chief Architect and co-founder at Fauna. FaunaDB is the data API for client-serverless applications with strong consistency, ACID transactions, and global, low latency availability.

I did infrastructure/backend consulting, special project work for technology startups.

I was one of two technical leads of the team at Twitter responsible for the core storage services that backed the site, including Tweets, Follows, and Users.- Maintained and operated existing core services written in Scala.- Led the project to design and build a scalable storage service for user records, and helped coordinate a complex integration involving many existing legacy concerns and 3 different teams.- Helped streamline and hand off day-to-day operations of Twitter's sharded MySQL services to the DBA team.

I worked on a small, fast team that built and maintained many of Twitter's critical back-end components written in Scala and Ruby, at a period when the site was growing extremely rapidly. My responsibilities included the development and deployment of new systems, maintaining existing ones, and responding to availability issues with the live service.- Designed and built a scalable storage service for tweets, which when deployed resulted in a drastic increase in the availability of the system in the face of large spikes of incoming tweets.- Helped rebuild and increase the efficiency of Twitter's primary asynchronous processing pipeline, responsible for ensuring the delivery of hundreds of thousands of tweets per second.

I was a full-stack engineer on multiple social games for Facebook's platform built using Ruby on Rails that ended up being played by millions of people. I worked on both fast-paced prototype projects as well as longer term maintenance, and was responsible for the day-to-day health of the systems I worked on. - Devised and open sourced a method to perform zero-downtime schema changes in MySQL for very large tables.- Ported a large subset of jQuery to Facebook's FBML javascript sandbox.- Designed and built a reactive, server-driven javascript event framework that allowed for easily extensible, rich UIs to be built using modular, unobtrusive js components.- Built a low latency image compositing service that was was used to generate on-the-fly in game assets and user avatars.
