The ultimate goal was to assist businesses in building capacity to win contracts, create jobs and have a positive impact on the economy. Freida has an extensive background assisting business owners in the various stages of starting, growing, scaling, and funding their businesses. Prior to WBDC, she was the Entrepreneurship Director at The Chicago Urban League, and the Director of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ms. Curry is also the previous owner of Freida Curry & Associates, a business consulting and training firm; I AM Records, a recording label; and VP in Account Services at Burrell Communications (formerly named Burrell Advertising). Freida is an advocate for small businesses and participated on several committees that include the City of Chicago Government Procurement & Compliance Forum; Sterling Bay Diversity & Inclusion Council; and Illinois Tollway Diversity Action Council. She holds a certification as an Associate Contracting Assistance Specialist with the national Association of PTACs and Verification Assistance Counselor with the U.S. Veterans Administration. Freida holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.
