My biggest focuses at Sonoma State have been automation, standardization, and resiliency. • 2020: built an automatic failover DR/BC “pilot light” for core services, using AWS, S3, CloudFront, Route53, and GitLab pipelines.• 2019: Modernized our Puppet codebase, including refactoring into Roles & Profiles, and moved to Puppet Enterprise.• 2019‑Current: Primary admin for SSU’s Google Workspace. Including eDiscovery, automated group (mailing list) member management, GAM, DMARC/DKIM/SPF management, etc.• 2019: Technical lead on project to migrate campus from Exchange to G Suite for email and calendaring, including migrating email, calendar data and contacts for thousands of users.• ~2010‑~2018: Moodle administration. Architected and built scalable infrastructure for hosting this Learning Management System used by all studentsand most faculty. Also assisted in project to migrate off of it to Canvas LMS.• 2008: Spearheaded initiative to automate server administration with Puppet. Started with moving much of kickstart standard install things into Puppet configuration management and a few of the simpler cluster. Eventually this became our primary way of administering most things on Unix servers. Included learning a bit of Ruby.• 2003–~2012: Main administrator of Linux email clusters. Courier IMAP/POP, exim SMTP, SpamAssassin, and SquirrelMail, backed by NFS on NetApps, and OpenLDAP cluster. 2019–2021: Automating system administration for small organization with masterless puppet. GitLab. Various other sysadmin tasks on Debian servers.1995-2005: Various small projects for different people/companies. Perl, SQL, etc... Still available for something interesting that comes up, but haven't done much lately.

Unix Sysadmin, Webmaster, Exchange Admin.CVS administration, Sendmail admin, SpamAssassin, Apache HTTP, BIND DNS, MySQL DB, Amanda backups.Primary author of Technical Web Guidelines for campus, worked with interested parties throughout campus community on many of the details.Liaised with Academic Computing department during politically sensitive transition of a number of services to a server run by my department.

Previously known as IX Labs. Primary work was programming in Perl for the DatingFaces.com website. Substantial Oracle query optimization work as well.Designed and implemented a system for creating and shipping individually customized "dating" cards; Perl to interface with rest of site; physical assembly line design; barcode tracking. Learned enough PostScript to handle the minimal customized portions of the printouts.

Primarily worked for a single client, most of which was part of a content management system used by Songline Studios (company later merged back into O'Reilly and became "The O'Reilly Network") and other customers. Worked out of office space in O'Reilly's Sebastopol offices part of the time.

Wrote and maintained a Perl, SQL and C code. Sysadmin work. Some networking stuff (Cisco and Lucent Portmaster equipment).

Primary System Administrator. Kept several Linux servers, an NT4 server and a Solaris server running. Built websites.

Manned a helpdesk. Assisted with system administration for several linux servers. Wrote simple Perl. Wrote a little C (modified login to capture passwords and feed them into Kerberos).

Programmed for dBase IV database. Administered NetWare network and DOS workstations.
