About Francisco Restivo

Francisco J. Restivo (IEEE Member, ’71, Life Member, 2013) has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Porto between 1988 and 2010 and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University between 2010 and 2022. He was a founder and director of CCP - CIM Centre of Porto, between 1992 and 1999, and a member of the board at IDIT - Institute for Development and Innovation in Technology, Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, between 1999 and 2015. He is a researcher at LIACC - Artificial Intelligence and Computer Sciences Laboratory of the University of Porto since 2008. His research interests include Digital Signal Processing, Intelligent Production Systems, Complex Social Systems and Education.Dr. Restivo holds a D. Phil. degree from the University of Sussex (1981) and the IEEE has awarded him the Third Millenium Medal in 2000.
