The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine was the only house of worship destroyed on September 11, 2001. The church is under re-construction as part of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York City. The church is being developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Father Evagoras served as the official spokesman for the project from the time of the ground blessing in 2014 until the Consecration of the Church on July 4, 2022. He handled all press inquiries and tours, and also conducted press conferences and interviews.
Archdiocesan Registrar
As Register of the Archdiocese, Father Evagoras was responsible for maintaining a variety of records pertaining to the life and activities of the faithful of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. These records are often used to issue transcripts for the faithful who have lost original certificates (which are now required for legal or ecclesiastical purposes). The Registry Department issues ecclesiastical licenses to marry, divorce decrees (following a Spiritual Court hearing), baptismal and chrismation certificates (for use by the priests), and forms for reporting deaths and funerals.

As the Director of Ionian Village, Father Evagoras planned, coordinated, and executed multiple 20 day summer camp sessions, over 45 weekend retreats, and several large scale events on an annual basis. The planning for these types of events included coordinating with multi-national transportation companies, touring companies, and managing schedules for over 450 participants and over 40 staff members. During his time as Director, Father oversaw the largest rise in camper registrations, with the programs being fully sold out almost every year. He revitalized the Spiritual Odyssey program for Young Adults, and later transformed that into IVNext, a Ministry Networking program that was funded through a generous grant from Leadership 100. Father conceived the “IV On the Go” program, that sent former Staff members to parishes across the Archdiocese to run weekend long retreats in the unique style of Ionian Village. Father and his Administrative team completely re-wrote the program and curriculum of the camp, focusing every aspect of the camp on love for Jesus Christ and a love for Greece, its people, culture and history. In addition, Father Evagoras oversaw a complete renovation of the campsite, the first in over 40 years. This included the building of a new chlorinated pool, installation of iconography in the camp’s iconic Chapel, construction of an outdoor chapel area, as well as a complete overhaul of the infrastructure of the camp and its systems following a catastrophic tornado in 2016. Father Evagoras had the opportunity to meet and guide thousands of young campers and hundreds of young adult Staff Members at Ionian Village.

The Office of Camping Ministries is responsible for providing resources and training for camp staff, as well as for setting appropriate standards for camp operation. As Director, Father Evagoras organized the first Synaxis of Camp Directors of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, held in the Spring on 2018 in order to create, implement and produce camp standards for Orthodox camping across the Archdiocese.

These included the expansion of Camp Saint Paul, the summer camping ministry of the DAD, the founding of PARATHOSI, the Greek dance conference, established in 2012, and the building up of the athletic ministries which included basketball, volleyball, soccer, and the Archdiocesan Youth Olympics.
