In this varied position I assisted in the collection, transportation, and processing of tissue and bodily fluids for research, ensuring compliance with Biobank Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant legislation, ensuring that myself and the team were aware of changing policies and assisted identifying and implementing innovative changes. This involved collaborating with clinical teams to identify patients for sample collection and processing, liaising with multiple departments and external hospitals, facilitating coordination for research projects and clinical trials, along with working directly with the team to ensure all targets were hit both timely and efficiently. Bookings And Referrals Clinic Administrator

After the dissolvement of the Covid testing team, I was redeployed to the Referrals and Bookings team, where I later obtained a full time position. This post involved the scheduling and amendment of patient appointments as they were accepted by consultants prioritising my workload by patient needs and rearranging appointments to suit both consultants and patients, whilst maintaining up-to-date clinic templates. I collaborated with referring and external Trusts and other internal departments to ensure compliance with the Minimum Data Set (MDS) requirements and timely delivery of patient reports- building a good rapport to ensure fast and effective transfers. It was also vital to communicate with patients and service users via phone and mail, addressing inquiries with empathy and professionalism while considering communication barriers.

Donor Carer

Manchester Area, United Kingdom

This role involved dealing with the public on a daily basis. I was required to independently drive to various locations across the North West and set up all equipment daily. The blood donors would then arrive where we were individually responsible for their care throughout the donation process, working as part as a team and managing our own workload and donors. Tasks included triage and check in, health screening, administrative tasks - both paper and computer, performing venipuncture, monitoring donors throughout their donation, removal of needles and processing of blood packs, paperwork and samples, with customer well-being, teamwork, and safety as paramount. I worked independently, arranging my own working day to effectively organise my work schedule. Within this role, working exactly to Standard Operating Procedures put in place by local and national governing bodies is paramount and has taught the importance of reporting any concerns or worries to senior management and the team promptly and efficiently, with safety at the forefront of everything I do.

School Health Support Worker

Nhs

Oldham, England, United Kingdom

This role was community focused and primarily involved assisting the school nurses with their duties. I arranged my dairy and prioritised my work according to service needs, liaising with the wider team and assisting with tasks to allow the whole team to achieve targets. This included distribution and triage of health assessments and screenings received from school and families, and allocating them to relevant members of staff, both within my team and external, if I cannot deal with the issue/request. Additionally, I aided in the organisation of immunisation sessions within schools, which I attended and dealt with logistics (packing the vaccine, temperature control, contacting families, GP's etc), administration, and pupil well-being. I was also solely responsible for the national child measurement programme in my allocated area. This involved gathering confidential information from schools, distribution and collection of consent forms, organisation of visits to schools to gather height and weight information from pupils, accurately recording data on private records, distribution of data securely to relevant personnel, and finally identifying the young people at risk of weight problems and offering support to them and their families. This role also gave me experience with various computerised systems and I gained valuable experience in the use of word, excel, and local systems.
