Freyja is the founder of GEMMAQ, that provides the opportunity to invest directly in gender diversity, with quality real-time diversity data and a unique gender-lens platform. The transparent data platform measures & visualizes the real impact women have on global markets. Freyja was the winner of the Nordic Women in Tech Awards, Rising Star of the Year, Fall 2021.GEMMAQ is among Top 10 ESG startups and early-stage teams to look out for in 2022 - a list compiled by NY VC Network, was on Top 50 NY VC startup list in 2021 and participated in Founders Live Seattle Fall 2020. GEMMAQ received a highly competitive grant from the Icelandic Technology Development Fund in 2019, the Entrepreneur Fund of Islandsbanki in 2019 and the Gender Equality Fund at the Ministry of Welfare in Iceland in 2018 and 2017.Before launching GEMMAQ, Freyja built a career in financial services and was a Director at the Central Bank of Iceland. She has an MPA in Economic Policy Management from Columbia University, a Law Degree from Reykjavik University - where she was awarded the Dean’s List high-scholarship and an undergraduate degree in Political Science - spending one year as a Nordic Scholar at Copenhagen University in Denmark. She was also a high school exchange student in Iowa - in a small charming town by the Mississippi River.
