The Flight Crew Alumni Ambassador will work with other Ambassadors to bring together the impressive network of Flight Crew Alumni, tracking opportunities for alumni to engage with and recapping the various work alumni are doing in their states! This role focuses on leveraging Discord as a means to keep alumni engaged and Social Media to share out on what Flight Crew members achieve after participating in the program.

Helping inspire, guide and support young girls all around the world through sharing my story as young immigrant born and raised in a very patriarchal society.

Led and facilitated a workshop/conversation about the presence of a relationship with STEM to New York Hall of Science Employees. Conversed about how STEM has come to define our identities, and inspired interest in this field. Additionally presented on how external forces have shaped our pathways in STEM, including our collective school experiences and at NYSCI. During the workshop we conversed about diversity and injustice in STEM, including the case of Henrietta Lacks.

Known as Explainers, us Science Career Ladder participants engage the museum’s half-million annual visitors in creative STEM learning and serve as positive role models for the preK – 8th grade student audience and each other. As part of our experience at NYSCI, us Explainers participate in programming that focuses on college success, career-building, professional mentorships and research training.

I was able to facilitate workshops to 20+ coworkers, while raising awareness about the importance and significance of Mental Health Resources in the workplace. Held discussions regarding the managing of the madness occurring while maintaining a balance between mental health, education and academics, as well as the workplace. Created, hosted, and facilitated presentations and discussions, while bringing together coworkers and providing mentorship for many.

I participated in a team with 5 other passionate young girls from India, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Myanmar as we collectively propose a solution to the emerging Global Climate crisis. We utilized social media such as Instagram to include a youthful perspective and interest to the ongoing issue of climate change. Additionally, we conducted research and developed a prototype for a more environmentally friendly scooter, as well as raised awareness on ways to make environmentally-friendly transportation accessible and desirable.

I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the realm of diagnosis, and treatment. Working closely with patients, I was granted a profound glimpse into their journeys, and their medical narratives This intimate connection allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of the diagnostic process, observing firsthand the various symptoms, tests, examinations and emotions involved in identifying diseases.

The Flight Crew features remarkable youth from across the country. Motivated by our impactful STEM experiences beyond the classroom, these young leaders are currently working in their communities to break down stereotypes and spark their peers' curiosity in STEM. This talented cadre of youth embodies the Moonshot mission and we are committed to using afterschool and STEM learning to build a better future where young girls everywhere can envision a place for them in STEM. The Flight Crew will amplify youth voices in the national conversation around STEM equity as we work toward a future where every young girl can imagine themselves as a future engineer, builder or inventor.
