Frieda A. Taylor has practiced employment law for over 17 years representing employers in the full gamut of employment law issues, from day-to-day human resources counseling to defending against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases in state and federal court litigation, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies. Ms. Taylor has single-handedly and successfully defended numerous cases brought by current and former employees.Ms. Taylor specializes in investigating employee complaints submitted to compliance helplines, ranging from discrimination to assault allegations—over fifty investigations and written reports to date. Ms. Taylor also has drafted and reviewed various employer materials including handbooks, leave and accommodation forms and training guides, arbitration agreements, severance agreements, and other personnel policies. She has presented management training on such topics as sexual harassment, leave and accommodation, and wage-and-hour practices.Before practicing with Young & Zinn, Ms. Taylor served for seven years as in-house employment counsel for the Automobile Club of Southern California, which employs 10,000 individuals around the country, a position that gave her a front-row seat to the significant impact on employers of ever-changing federal and state laws and regulations. Consequently, Ms. Taylor has extensive experience advising management on leave and accommodation requests, investigations, terminations, and wage-and-hour issues.Ms. Taylor began her practice in the Litigation Department of O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles. She has specialized in employment law since 2004. Ms. Taylor earned her A.B. at Brown University and her J.D. at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law. She also clerked for the Honorable Harry Pregerson, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, from 1992 to 1993.
