My career objectives are to develop innovative therapeutics and diagnostics, especially those based on nucleic acids. In addition to creating an R&D team at Atom Bioworks par excellence (who have gotten our DNA STAR SARS-CoV-2 lateral flow assay to pre-EUA, and obtained proof of concept data for the usage of DNA STARs as therapeutics), I have dedicated my career to the amelioration of healthcare problems facing society via multiple modalities, from the development of therapeutics and medical devices, to the improvement of patient outcomes, and the pioneering of administrative initiatives and capabilities. I have extensive commercialization and post-launch expertise in multiple specialty markets, such as Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, Hemophilia A and B, Fibrinogen and Acute Hemorrhage, Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors, Sickle Cell Disease, Beta Thalassemia, and others.

Strategic Advisor And Consultant, I.E., Sabbatical PositionAtom Bioworks May 2023 - Jan 2024- Provide guidance on Atom Bioworks' strategic aims.- As corresponding author, oversee completion of a publication detailing Atom Bioworks' recent therapeutic successes in the use of proprietary nucleic acid scaffolds against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in vitro and in vivo. -
Director Of Research & DevelopmentAtom Bioworks Jan 2022 - Apr 2023- Led the R&D team to FDA pre-EUA for the application of Nucleic acid scaffold (Nas) technology in a SARS-CoV-2 lateral flow assay.- Designed and executed a Nas development program that resulted in the patent conversion of "Multispecific Polynucleotide Nanostructures for Cancer Detection and Therapy":1) Nas scaffolds enhance aptamer affinity (avidity) to binding strengths similar - and sometimes better - than antibodies.2) The selection of proprietary aptamers against acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and proved the specific cell killing of these aptamers. 3) Demonstrated that these aptamers on Nas scaffolds enhance leukemia cell sensitivity to daunorubicin, both via MTT cell killing assays and flow cytometry IC50 assays.4) Programming of ligand patterns and densities on Nas scaffolds enabled selective killing of AML cells based on targeted cell surface expression profiles. -
