About Pontus Rodling

I'm a Swedish software developer, electronics hobbyist and graphics designer with a huge interest in high-performance distributed systems, networking, security and blinking LEDs.I moved to Christchurch, New Zealand in November 2014.On the software side of things I mainly use C/C++, C# and Pike but also have varying experience with F#, Java (incl. Android), Lua, PHP, Python, Ruby and VB.NET. This combined with electronics naturally leads to a bit of baremetal programming for ARM, AVR, Z80 and some other architectures.I do a lot of Linux systems administration and manage several desktop and server systems, mainly running Gentoo Linux but also some Debian/Ubuntu ones. I have good experience with networking, storage systems, mail systems, webservers, databases, security enhancements, etc.I also have relatively good experience with Windows Server systems.As part of my interest in high-performance systems I'm practicing FPGA and CUDA/OpenCL development. I have an Altera DE2i-150 FPGA development system with the intention of learning PCI-Express device design and Linux kernel driver programming for accelerating things in both the Linux kernel and user space software/libraries, e.g. crypto, compression, etc.Check out my website and GitHub profile to see some of my personal projects.

    Software development for an eCommerce platform involving C#/ASP.NET and SQL Server in the backend and HTML, CSS, JS and XSLT for the frontend, all under PCI-DSS compliance.Started out in a development team running SCRUM, taking on both client and internal pieces of work.I've been part and owner of several pieces of new core components and architecture in our platform powering critical subsystems.I'm currently the technical lead in the operational (Ops) team dealing with incidents, monitoring, bug reports, general maintenance and performance analysis and optimizations. As well as maintenance/management of our CI/CD and Source Control Management (SCM) systems.Since joining the Ops team I've developed and put in place new systems for monitoring and alerting which has significantly reduced incident response times, as well as developed tools to help track down various kinds of issues throughout our software stack.For a while I was also on the Product Development (R&D) team, working on new products and features while still helping out the Ops team with high-priority operational tasks and monitoring as needed.
