I have developed and operated a small business, Work of Willow, that specializes in customizable crochet pieces and hand-carved block prints.

I help to provide tours and promotion of the College of Natural Resources to new and prospective students and families. I recruit potential new students through being an approachable resource to answer questions, give advice, and share my experiences as an Environmental Sciences student, Scholars program member, and active participant in campus life.

Conducted weekly check-ins to guide first-year students through campus resources, extracurricular activities, and the development of time management and study skills. Organized social events to promote a sense of community among the incoming students and Environmental First Year Program.

Daily care and handling of nearly 30 resident animals including a variety of reptiles, mammals, and birds of prey. Delivered educational presentations or tours 2-3 times per week to visitors and campers. Conducted weekly radio telemetry surveys of eight tagged wild Eastern Box Turtles on the property. Designed and filmed a VR experience of the property in order to promote the organization and its values to a wider audience.

In this role, I have gained experience mapping the stormwater structures of the city and performing water quality surveys. These maps are being collected particularly within the Richland Creek area, a certified impaired creek by the EPA, in order to determine steps to improve water quality and runoff efficiency. Additionally, public education events are held to inform the community of their impact of stormwater and the importance of participating in sustainable practices.
