The NCI Agency was formed by merging NC3A, NACMA and NCSA in 2012.The NCIA Collective Exercises branch is the NATO organization providing specialist scientific and analytical support to the evolution and conduct of computer-aided exercises (CAX) organized both by NATO (coalition exercises delivered by NATO training centers or component commands) and NATO nations (national exercises). As part of this support, NCIA CAX produces a software suite of interface and exploitation prototype tools (the NATO CAX software capability) designed to make better use of the capabilities inherent in various simulators (mostly JTLS and JCATS) by feeding command and control systems, providing better situational awareness for current ops and aiding the training organizations in various stages of the planning, execution and evaluation of exercises. This software suite is used both by NATO headquarters and national simulation centers. We also produce the JEMM software tool which is the main tool used by military and civilian organizations in the NATO command structure and nations for managing exercise flow and training objectives.When not participating in exercises, my role has been to perform system administration duties maintaining the labs and the development network. I have also acted as a technical trainer teaching system administrator courses for several of our tools (mainly JEMM). During exercises, my normal duties have been in the Tech Control cell, running the simulators (usually Joint Theatre Level Simulation), but I have also participated as support staff in response cells (performing JTLS operator duties, providing in-cell JEMM support and advising the response cell).
