I am a science communicator passionate about collaborating with diverse creatives and stakeholders to make science more engaging and inclusive. My expertise includes evidence-based science and health communication, and engaging digital multi-media storytelling. I think I also have a special talent for building community, leading collaborative projects and innovating approaches to science communicationI am currently a science communicator for NIH Center for Alzheimer's and Related Dementias, as well as an adjunct at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication teaching emerging media. Previously I was VP of Science Communication at LifeOmic, where I co-founded Lifeology. Lifeology brought scientists and artists together to broaden the reach of science and health information.I have extensive experience and a keen interest in the evidence-based use of social and other new media to promote public engagement and trust in science. In my spare time, I also conduct research and training in science communication.I am a Ph.D. graduate of the Manship School of Mass Communication, Louisiana State University. During my PhD, I served as LSU Research Communications' Coastal Initiative Graduate Fellow. I was later appointed the Lamar Postdoctoral position at the Manship School for 2015-2016. As the Lamar scholar, I taught courses in science communication and digital storytelling, and conducted inter-disciplinary research on how science is communicated in new media environments and how people use science-related social media content. I also hold B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Louisiana State University, with PhD research experience in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. My skills include the ability to make technical scientific information accessible to a broad audience through a wide range of social and multi-media platforms.
