Charged with the leadership, guidance and mentorship of 800 Marines and Sailors and 150 civilian Marines from multiple commands within the Hampton Roads area from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Managed the timely, cost effective execution of a $10 million budget that resulted in an obligation rate of 99.89%. Provided leadership, oversight and guidance to the Marine Corps Exchange resulting in a noteworthy $300,000 profit. Managed the daily operations of a Marine Corps installation to include execution of a $3 million facilities maintenance budget to ensure maintainability and longevity of base infrastructure. Initiated multiple energy projects to increase energy conservation and efficiency.

Helmand Province, Afghanistan

Charged with the leadership, mentorship, health and welfare of a Joint/Coalition command consisting of over 500 personnel from all four U.S. Services, the National Guard, Great Britain, Denmark and Jordan. Responsible for building capability and capacity within the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police Logistics Commands from the Organizational to the Depot level. Efforts directly enhanced the effectiveness of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) to execute supply chain logistics including but not limited to inventory control, warehousing, supply requisition/fulfillment, distribution and contracting. Led an engineering team responsible for the building and transfer of $950 million worth of infrastructure to the Afghan National Security Forces under arduous environmental combat conditions. Advised and provided superior leadership to the Commander, Afghan National Army (ANA) Regional Logistics Support Command on methods to successfully execute general support logistics through optimal use of its 754 soldiers and $20 million in rolling stock to support a customer base of 17,000 ANA soldiers and $300 million in assets.

Led USMC long-range strategy for the war on terrorism, the transition of forces from Operation Iraqi Freedom to Operation Enduring Freedom, reconstitution of USMC multi-capable abilities and Security Force Assistance planning efforts. Hand-selected as the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ representative on an elite team of Service Chief selected planners representing the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Accomplishments included but not limited to: provided expert opinion and recommendations to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and all other Service Chiefs, formulated strategy and Joint Chiefs of Staff positions within the interagency and non-governmental research institutions. Coordinated the national and defense strategic studies groups to support the Chairman and Joint Chief of Staffs’ role as non-partisan and independent advisors to the President and National Security Council. Produced critical national security briefings for the President of the United States.

Led, mentored, trained and supported a squadron of 250 personnel. Maximized utilization of all unit resources including a 20 million dollar maintenance, readiness and operational budget in support of an EA-6B squadron. Provided daily guidance, discipline, and leadership for the unit’s officers, enlisted Marines and sailors. Maintained the squadron’s personnel, aircraft, and equipment readiness in accordance with USMC standards and the Aviation Campaign Plan resulting in a combat readiness level of 99%. Supported and executed Second Marine Aircraft Wing Training Exercise and Employment Plan and 100% of all training and operational mission tasking. Prepared, trained and safely deployed the squadron to Iwakuni, Japan in support of Combatant Commander requirements.

Manama, Bahrain

Spearheaded complex liaisons with national officials from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Pakistan and Jordan for all Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU) related activities, both operational and theater security cooperation engagement. Developed, initiated and coordinated all MEU operations including combat orders and amphibious exercises for Commander, Naval Forces in the Middle East. Served as lead planner for the deployment of the Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST) platoon to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for consulate reinforcement. Acted as trusted advisor to 3-star Admiral on the USMC doctrinal employment of Marine assets under his operational control.
