Sam is an accomplished chief executive officer and board leader with over thirty years of experience in healthcare, consumer, and industrial services markets. With deep management experience, he is an experienced senior executive with Fortune 500 and start-ups. working in product design, regulatory and payor strategies, compliance, public and private capital markets, M&A transactions and exits.Sam is a partner with Market Street Healthcare Partners, a private equity sponsor, and Senior Advisor to Invescore, an investment bank. He is a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University Law School teaching Business Strategy and founded Daerter Group, a start-up advisory. In 2019, Sam retired as the Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary and Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs for LabCorp (NYSE: LH) with enterprise-wide responsibility for the Legal, Compliance, Secretary, Public Policy, Communications, Privacy and Security functions.After serving on the Board of Aquyre Biosciences, Sam was appointed CEO and Board Chair. With offices in Boston and Paris, Sam led a recapitalization of the company, restructuring R&D, manufacturing and sales, and integrating AI technology. After completing the restructuring and a CEO succession plan, Sam retired from Aquyre. Sam is Lead Independent Director and Chairs the Nominating and Governance Committee of DIH (NASDAQ: DHAI), a global leader in robotics and VR technology. He serves on the Board of the Phillips Companies, a storage facility consolidator, Synergy VetPet, a veterinary consolidator, and Duo Technologies, a clean energy company. Sam Chairs the Board of Advisors for Thermaissance, a global textile manufacturer and is Board Chair of Easter Seals of NC and VA and Action in Africa. He serves on the Leadership Council of the National Small Business Association, the Advisory Board for the Woodrow Wilson Center, and as a Trustee for Endicott College. Sam was an Independent Director chairing the Compensation and Special Committees for VB Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: VBOCU), and served on the board of Alpha Marketing and the Alamance Community College Foundation. He was a partner with MedCap, a global health care fund, and the World Policy Institute. Sam also served on the Health Care Policy Leadership Council at Harvard’s Kennedy School and the Corporate Governance Forum at Harvard Law School. He is a frequent speaker on healthcare and leadership and was also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health, Division of Management, Policy, and Community Health.
