As a member of the transdisciplinary Homes4Life team, I cooperated with technical experts to develop a European certification scheme for age-friendly housing. My tasks included analyzing innovative pilot projects through fieldwork in various European countries, performing audits to test and develop the certification scheme, writing reports for the European Commission and writing scientific articles. As a university-based post-doctoral researcher my role is also to ensure reflexive learning amongst the stakeholders involved and implicated in the design of the certification scheme and to teach and supervise students.

As part of a European project on green innovation my tasks included writing a green.eu report for the European Commission and writing a high-impact journal publication.

As post-doctoral researcher in the international project Smart Eco-cities for a Green Economy (SMARTECO) I was involved in a comparative analysis of Chinese and European smart city and eco-city initiatives. Through an additional personal grant from KNAW I conducted extensive fieldwork in China (6 months as guest researcher at Fudan University in Shanghai). My tasks included to analyzing innovative smart and green policies and practices in various European countries and in China and writing scientific articles and book chapters. I was also intensively involved in teaching BSc and MSc students.

My PhD project explored the prospects for a shift toward sustainable urban transport in Thailand (supervised by Rob Raven, Geert Verbong and Johan Schot). I conducted long term fieldwork in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Korat to investigate the dynamics of the illicit motorcycle taxi industry, the development of cycling infrastructure and the rise of Bus Rapid Transit systems. I combined conceptual insights from the fields of Transitions Studies, Geography, Transport Engineering and Science Technology Studies (STS). The dissertation was based on 7 publications (5 peer-reviewed journal articles and 2 book chapters). I also competed the WTMC graduate school on Science Technology Studies and was involved in teaching and supervision of bachelor and master students. As junior researcher I in the project Transition Roadmap Energy Infrastructure in the Netherlands (TREIN) I cooperated with a variety of stakeholders in the Dutch electricity distribution sector to explore the development of Smart Grids. This resulted in an advisory report for the Dutch government and a highly cited publication in the journal Energy Policy.
