I have served as the senior operational leader for radiology across the UAB system since 09/2021, leading a diverse team to develop new markets. I have served as the Administrator of UAB Hospital-Highlands, a 134-bed inpatient hospital campus in Birmingham, since 06/2021.Select accomplishments in UAB Systemwide Radiology include:– Started a Leeds Cardiac CT program with physician partners to improve access and outcomes.– Negotiated a lease with Auburn University for 3T MRI to expand access and engage in a new market opportunity.– Recruited 3 new directors for key sites within 6 months to reorganize system services.– Partnered with St. Vincent’s Health System to build a referral process for PET/CT, reducing patient wait times by 50%.Select accomplishments as Administrator of UAB Hospital-Highlands include:– Negotiated a Critical Care Physician Service Agreement with the Divisions of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine to expand ICU Coverage.– Decreased length of stay of orthopedic surgery patients by >50% with a new pain management model, early mobility program, and buy-in of surgeons and campus leadership.– Recruited a bariatric surgery practice, increasing case volume & census to MBSAQIP accreditation standards.– Designed a Same-Day Total Joint Initiative with key orthopedic faculty.

I won a national competition for a UAB Fellowship. I reported to UAB Hospital’s SVP of Inpatient Services and supported the hospital through self-initiated or assigned projects:– Gaining a physician and hospital leadership focus, demonstrated by restructuring the Medical Emergency Team.– Collaborating with System AVP for Perioperative Services to design the State of the OR presentation under new executive leadership (60 ORs).– Developing a LEAN-principled PDSA (plan, do, study, act) for UAB’s Kirklin Clinic Lab.– Evaluating/managing the redesign of UAB Hospital’s patient admissions throughput process.

I started my hospital career in my home state of Florida. After a brief assignment with Tenet Physician Services, I joined UF Health’s Department of Anesthesiology. That role introduced me to business analysis opportunities, including:– Designing pre-op pilot study and redesigning pre-surgical clinic operations by implementing data capture methods and identifying bottlenecks in pre-op care.– Analyzing our call system to determine a “buy or rebuild” strategy.– Assessing benefits and risks of EPIC OP Time Implementation.– Designing and implementing a centralized scheduling template.Throughout my career, hospital operations have taught me complexity, teamwork, and the power of failing forward.
